Career Summary

Projects

Maths & Physics Intern

Academies Enterprise Trust

18 Jun - 20 Jul 2018

Assisted teachers and subject experts by supporting students and managing behaviour during lessons.

Key Achievements

  • Successfully designed and delivered lessons to students, learning from mistakes and gaining exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Researched alternate methods for teaching complex mathematical concepts to students in a concise, understandable and informative manner, presenting findings to teachers and subject experts.
  • Proactively decided to focus attention on working with students with special needs.

Reservoir Engineering Intern

Eni North Africa B.V.

20 Feb - 6 Jul 2017

Developed understanding of Static and Dynamic Gradient Surveys. Supported Slickline and Field engineers perform the Greasing Campaign for Christmas Trees (XMTs). Mapped out the field using Petrel and Techlog, interpreting the data obtained from Openhole Logs to predict the presence of hydrocarbons. Assisted at the University of Tripoli.

Key Achievements

  • Successfully completed a simulation of a producing field and advised on certain areas where future Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques could be implemented during a presentation to senior management.
  • Showed initiative to lead and teach a TechLog class to university students. This helped develop my presentation and communication skills.
  • Effectively utilised data from Deliverability Tests to measure a well’s production capabilities and Wellbore Damage.
  • Working with the HSE team, ensured only relevant personnel were present during the greasing campaign and made sure all safety equipment was worn at all times.

Crew Trainer

McDonald's

25 Oct 2014 - 6 Nov 2019

Trained McDonald’s crews and assisted the management team effectively. Developed exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Key Achievements

  • Finished Top of the Class in Crew Trainer Course.
  • Awarded Trainer of the Quarter on two separate occasions for outstanding training of teams.
  • Ensured the implementation of high standards of hygiene and customer service on a consistent basis.

Python Adventure Game

CodeNation

5 - 23 April 2021

After an intense week of python lessons, we were tasked with creating a python-based adventure game as a way to test what we had retained from the previous week. I was grouped with other members of the coding course with varying degrees of coding experience.

Overall, the project ran very smoothly. Teamwork and organisation were excellent which resulted in our team, Kil-A-Bytes, completing the project ahead of schedule and creating, arguably, the best game in the class.

Master's Thesis

Heriot-Watt University

14 Apr - 29 May 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this project was carried out remotely during my MSc studies.

I was tasked with exploring innovative techniques of implementing Thermally-Activated Polymers (TAP) to maximise oil recovery using state-of-the-art CMG software.

Our findings showed great promise in becoming a future implementation technique of this technology. We have been approached by CMG to aid in consulting an operator on using TAP in the field. Our results were also presented at EAGE's 21st IOR Symposium in April 2021.

This project entailed the combined use of CMG Software (STARS, CMOST-AI, cEDIT and Results) and Excel.

Master's Design Project

Heriot-Watt University

1 Jun - 21 Jul 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this project was carried out remotely during my MSc studies.

In the Field Development Project (FDP), students were given the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during the taught courses to a realistic industry problem. The project was carried out in teams of 5 or 6 students. The teams had to operate as project or asset teams, as would be the case within an oil company.

Each team was provided with data from several wells relating to an oil discovery. A technical and economic analysis leading to development of the prospect was to be carried out, taking into account the Government’s energy and environmental policy. The conclusions were presented to Management and Government representatives for approval.

This project entailed the combined use of: Petrel; Eclipse100; WellFlo; Techlog; MATLAB; and Excel.

Bachelor's Design Project

University of Manchester

4 Feb - 10 May 2020

The aim of this individual and multidisciplinary teamwork project was to create a depletion and development plan for the synthetic SPE10 field model from the North Sea. We had to consider several well planning strategies, recovery mechanisms and capital costs and economics for the project.

This project entailed the combined use of: Petrel; Eclipse100; PVTi; Techlog; MATLAB; and Excel.

Hazard & Operability Study (HAZOP)

University of Manchester

18 Sep - 12 Dec 2017

We were tasked with performing a HAZOP on the University of Manchester's MonoEthylene Glycol (MEG) Reclamation Pilot Plant. This entailed the identification of common hazards around the plant and how to avoid them. This was the first group project of the degree programme and I was able to gain a lot of experience in teamwork and safety analysis.
